LivingWorks safeTALK

safeTALK is a half-day training program that equips participants to recognize and engage individuals who may be having thoughts of suicide, connecting them to community resources for intervention. This program emphasizes safety and encourages open conversations about suicide, breaking through societal taboos.

What You'll Learn:

Participants will learn to:

  • Recognize signs of suicidal thoughts

  • Engage in direct and open conversations

  • Connect individuals to intervention resources

The TALK steps are key actions to help someone with thoughts of suicide:
Tell, Ask, Listen, and KeepSafe

Training Structure:

  • SafeTALK includes six video scenarios to illustrate both alert and non-alert responses, guiding participants through hands-on practice of the TALK steps.

  • The program addresses societal beliefs that can cause people to miss or dismiss suicide alerts, helping participants overcome these barriers.

Support Resources:

An ASIST-trained or other community support resource is recommended at every training session to ensure participant safety and comfort.

safeTALK complements longer suicide intervention training and was developed by LivingWorks Education in collaboration with experts from Australia and Canada.
